The recognized Social Partners, UNI Europa and EASE, are glad to announce the official launching of the ESSDC ( European Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee) which took place on 20 September 2012 at the European Sport Forum in Cyprus, Nicosia.
The Forum which is a key annual event in the framework of the EU permanent dialogue with the sport movement gathered +- 200 representatives of the international and European sport movement. The event was directly linked and coordinated with the Informal Meeting of the EU Sport Ministers under the Cypriot Presidency on 20-21 September.
A session dedicated on SD in the Sport Sector has been organized on 20 September by the European Commission in cooperation with the Social Partners ( EASE/UNI EUROPA). The session consisted of a panel debate on European Social Dialogue in the field of sport.
The EU social partners of professional football (EPFL, ECA and FIFPro) have also taken part in the panel in order to share their experience and to be a source of inspiration for the Social Dialogue in the whole Sport Sector.
The European Commission ( DG Employment) represented by Mr Tricart recognized the tremendous work done so far by the Social Partners and the complexity of the sector due to its fragmentation. However, he highlighted the possibility for the sector to set up its own architecture, the transparency and the openness of the process and made the public announcement of the launching of the ESSDC for sport and active leisure two-years test phase.
EASE and UNI Europa Sport supported by the European Commission will organise in December 2012 in Brussels the first plenary session of the European Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee (ESSDC) for sports and active leisure.
