This a dynamic agreement and part of UNI’s strategy to grow media unions globally.
UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings says, “This agreement is an important step for industrial relations in the field of commercial broadcasting in Europe. We are very pleased about the agreement which has been built on constructive dialogue and trust between senior management and Eurosport’s unions.”
Philip Jennings and Laurent-Eric Le Lay, Chief Executive Officer of Eurosport signed the global agreement regarding fundamental rights during talks between senior management and the delegation of unions in Boulogne.
Prior to this agreement, Eurosport and UNI MEI recognised the importance of social dialogue on an international level in the media sector and have, in the spirit of cooperation, established relations in order to promote and develop social dialogue, not only within the company, but also between the two organisations, and involving all unions that are represented within the company.
The agreement is intended for application across all companies over which Eurosport has direct control and contains provision for the respect of fundamental human rights, employment policy, supplier and subcontractor relations and environmental policy.
“I am delighted by this agreement which confirms Eurosport’s commitment to upholding employees’ fundamental rights, to developing social dialogue at the heart of all our activities across the world and to implementing a long lasting policy of social responsibility” underlined Laurent-Eric Le Lay at the signing ceremony which took place at TF1’s Head Office in Boulogne.
